LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din, announced that skill and business management programme was being initiated for the training and economic empowerment of women working in the non-formal sector.
The minister discussed the matter with Gloria Wiseman, Country Director for Paki
stan and Sri Lanka and Counsellor Developm
ent for Pakistan, Daniel Joly at the committee room of the Punjab Assembly. She informed the delegation about measures taken by the Punjab governm
ent for the economic development and protection of women’s legal rights.
She notified the committee that business facilitation centers were being set up in all districts for the financial assistance of women. Moreover, the government had set up an endowment fund worth R
s 295 million, adding a sum of Rs 100 million had been allocated for working women&rsqu
o;s hostels.
She claimed that the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) p
roject would accelerate economic activities in the country and make room for more job opportunities in the near future. Matters regarding cooperation with Women Development department in the areas of mutual interest were also discussed in the meeting.
